Players to watch out for

Virat Kohli has played a mere 4 T20Is against Sri Lanka and he has managed to score a half-century in all the matches. He has blasted 283 runs with a strike rate of 136.7. Need we say more?

Shikhar Dhawan too has had his share of fun against Sri Lanka, having amassed 205 runs at 41 in 6 matches.

Yuzvendra Chahal likes feeding on the Sri Lankan batsmen. He has scalped 14 wickets with a stunning strike rate of 8.5, including 2 four-wicket hauls. Meanwhile, his spin partner Kuldeep Yadav has taken 8 wickets in 4 T20Is against Sri Lanka.

Play with Champions

Kusal Perera has a good record against India in the format. He has his two half-centuries including 11 sixes in 6 matches. In addition he has been Sri Lanka’s most consistent batsmen across formats for the past 10 months.

Not long did Lasith Malinga take 4 wickets in 4 balls, becoming the only player to doing so twice in international cricket. Although he has an ordinary record against India, he knows how to deceive the batsmen on Indian wickets.

KL Rahul has been in terrific form of late: his last 4 T20I scores read 52, 62, 11, and 91.

All eyes will be on Jasprit Bumrah who last played competitive cricket in August 2019. In 42 T20I, he has sniped up 51 wickets with an impressive economy of 6.7.

Match prediction

India have won 11 of 16 T20Is against Sri Lanka. At home, the scoreline reads 6-2 in their favour. To make matters worse for Sri Lanka, they have never won a T20I bilateral series against India. The only major upset they scripted was in the final of the 2014 World T20I.

However, Sri Lanka beat the No. 1 T20I team Pakistan 0-3 in their own den last year – the only fact that should boost their confidence. Otherwise, India are likely to smash them to pulp.
