Pitch Report
Going by the recently concluded T20I series between the two teams, chasing seems to be the preferred option at the Southend Club Cricket Stadium in Karachi. The wicket is also expected to be on the slower side, thereby keeping the spinners interested.
Teams
Probable XI for Pakistan: Muneeba Ali, Sidra Nawaz(wk), Omaima Sohail, Bismah Maroof (c), Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, Sidra Ameen, Sadia Iqbal, Fatima Sana/Ghulam Fatima, Diana Baig, Anam Amin
Probable XI for Sri Lanka: Hasini Perera, Chamari Athapaththu (c), Oshadi Ranasinghe, Nilakshi de Silva, Harshitha Madavi, Ama Kanchana, Kavisha Dilhari, Anushka Sanjeewani (wk), Sachini Nisansala, Sugandika Kumari, Udeshika Prabodhani
Players to watch out for
Oshadi Ranasinghe will be high on confidence after finishing the T20I series as the highest wicket-taker (6). In the process, the Sri Lankan seamer turned out to be a surprise package in fantasy leagues.
Nida Dar’s role with both and ball will be crucial for Pakistan. In her last five ODIs, she has scored two half-centuries and picked 8 wickets as well.
Bismah Maroof experienced a decent outing with scores of 15*, 22*, and 28 in the T20Is. In her last five ODIs against Sri Lanka, she has added 180 runs at 36.
Anam Amin’s left-arm spin proved to be tricky for the tourists in the T20Is. Having picked 4 wickets, including 3 for 21, she will remain a key bowler for Pakistan in the ODIs too.
Chamari Athapaththu couldn’t contribute much with the bat in the T20s. That said, in her ODI career against Pakistan, she has scored 295 runs, including the highest score of 99.
Kavisha Dilhari was pretty impressive in the T20Is. Given the abrasive wicket on offer at Karachi, her off-spin bowling might generate useful fantasy points.
Fatima Sana is back for the ODI series. She bagged 7 wickets in the recently concluded Women’s World Cup in New Zealand. She is also a useful batter down the order.
Match Preview
Pakistan will enter this ODI series as the overwhelming favorites, after whitewashing Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20Is. If the visitors are to challenge the hosts, they will need to bat better. On the head-to-head front, though, Sri Lanka lead Pakistan 21-9 in the ODIs.
