Fantasy Tips of The Day
Shakib Al Hasan has sweet memories of The Shere Bangla Stadium, where he has amassed 1,496 runs at 43 and bagged 74 wickets including eight five-fors.
Mushfiqur Rahim too has his own love affair with the venue. Besides accumulating 1,535 runs at 44, including two unbeaten double-tons, a hundred and five fifties, he has inflicted 39 dismissals.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (47 wickets) and Taijul Islam (58 wickets) have enjoyed rattling the opposition in Dhaka. While Mehidy has picked as many as six five-fors, Taijul has two to his credit.
Since 2022, Litton Das has collected 800 runs at 44 – of which 422 runs at 60 have come at home. When he last batted at the venue, he ended up scoring 73.
The onus of laying a decent foundation at the top will be on Andrew Balbirnie, who has registered two half-centuries in his last three Tests.
Curtis Campher has the ability to grind out an opposition. In his only First-Class match against the Bangladesh Emerging Team at Chattogram, he occupied the crease for more than four hours for scores of 39 and 22.
In the same match, Harry Tector hammered 55 in the second innings. His ability to launch big shots and also bowl part-time off-spin makes him a handy pick, especially in these conditions.
Ireland will rely on the pace spearhead Mark Adair for early breakthroughs. In his debut and only Test till now, he took six wickets including the prized scalp of Joe Root on two occasions.
In the last three games at the venue, 51% of the wickets belonged to spinners and 43% to seamers.
