Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Match prediction, fantasy tips

Time: May 28, 12:30 PM IST

Venue: Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka

Pitch report

18 of 35 wickets belong to the spinners. There hasn’t been a sharp turn on offer, but the slowness of the pitch has been making it difficult for the batsmen to dictate terms.

Given the nature of the wicket, it’s a no-brainer that the team batting first will have an advantage.

Probable XIs

Taskin Ahmed walked in as Saifuddin’s concussion sub after the latter was hit on the helmet by a short ball.

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal (c), Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mosaddek Hossain, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman

Ashen Bandara has unimpressive scores of 3 off 24 and 15 off 21. Niroshan Dickwella, who has a reputation for batting at breathtaking strike rates, is likely to make it to the playing XI.

Sri Lanka: Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Perera (c & wk), Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Isuru Udana, Lakshan Sandakan, Dushmantha Chameera

Fantasy tips

We have opted for a fantasy cricket team based on recent performances, impact, and credit points.

Fantasy Cricket Team for Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Match

35 wickets have fallen in 4 innings. The more bowlers in your fantasy team, the merrier. Pick only those batsmen who don’t rely on boundaries but are good at running between the wickets.

Players to watch out for

No one has scored even half the runs that Mushfiqur Rahim has. He has amassed 209 runs at an average of 104.5 and strike rate of 97.6 and on a pitch that has been favouring the bowlers. His secret to success, however, has been running between the wickets: he has scored only 33.7% runs in boundaries.

With 7 wickets at 8.29, Mehidy Hasan Miraz is the highest wicket-taker of the series. His consistency has also propelled him to the No. 2 spot in the ICC ODI Rankings for bowlers, only behind Trent Boult.

Wanindu Hasaranga is the only Sri Lankan to score a fifty in the series. The second-highest score for them in the series is Kusal Perera’s 30. Nevertheless, Hasaranga’s all-round skills make him a significant player in fantasy cricket. Although he has taken a solitary wicket in 20 overs, he has been able to keep the Bangladeshi batsmen on the back foot.

Mustafizur Rahman has taken consecutive three-wicket hauls. He has been brilliant at cleaning up the tail with his change in pace. He could not have asked for a better pitch.

One of the few positives for Sri Lanka on this tour has been the rise of Dushmantha Chameera. He has dismissed the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, among others.

Match prediction

The only way Sri Lanka can put a leash on the rampaging home team is by batting first. Batting in the second innings on a sluggish wicket has been an uphill task for them. However, luck too has been eluding them, losing the toss in both games.

Bangladesh haven’t had great starts. They were 43 for 2 in the first game and 49 for 3 in the second. On both occasions, Mushfiqur took them out of the woods. If Sri Lanka manage to get rid of him early, Bangladesh will have to bat out of their skin; if Sri Lanka don’t, it would be difficult to escape a whitewash.
