Probable XIs for Brave & London

Probable XI for Brave: Quinton de Kock (wk), James Vince (c), Marcus Stoinis, Alex Davies, Tim David, Ross Whiteley, James Fuller, George Garton, Chris Jordan, Jake Lintott, Tymal Mills

Probable XI for London: Zak Crawley, Adam Rossington (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Eoin Morgan (c), Kieron Pollard, Ravi Bopara, Jordan Thompson, Liam Dawson, Nathan Ellis, Mason Crane, Chris Wood

Power Players

Jordan Thompson is the joint-highest wicket-taker of the season. He has taken six wickets at a strike rate of 6.6. His 4 for 21 is the second-best bowling figures.

After his staggering 71 in the tournament opener, James Vince reversed his score to 17. A thick inside edge ruffled his defence. Before walking back, he smacked two sixes.

Eoin Morgan, after quitting his services for England, has registered scores of 47 and 37 at a strike rate of 153. He has been smashing runs with full flow.

Fun fact: Vince and Morgan have hit six sixes each, the joint-most this season. Here are some bonus fantasy points up for grabs.

The Showstoppers

He came. He entertained the fans. He walked back. During all this, Glenn Maxwell spanked 21 off 15 including two fours and a six. He won’t bat any differently. More important, he looks in brilliant touch.

Quinton de Kock hammered a six and four in his 15-run knock. He got out while pulling across the line – his story this English summer. After the 92* in the final ODI against England, he has not been able to capitalise on his starts. He might as well squash his critics in the English 100 League. After all, he has got the ammunition for it.

Kieron Pollard has muscled 53 runs at a strike rate of 221. It was his unbeaten 34* off 11 that powered London to a total of 160. He, however, is yet to bowl in the tournament. For now, his primary task is to send the ball into orbit.

The only glory that Marcus Stoinis has after his name in this edition is the wicket of Chris Benjamin with the new ball. He conceded six dots in 10 balls. With the bat, he has got only one opportunity, which he could not grab. He will open his shoulders as the tournament progresses.

Smart Picks

The ever-improving Nathan Ellis provided bonus fantasy points for a three-wicket haul in the first match and an economy of 0.8 run per ball in the second. He does not mind mixing up his pace and lengths even in a format that can dent his confidence.

The spin duo of Liam Dawson and Mason Crane has taken six wickets between them. While Dawson has been given the task to bowl his slow left-arm with the new ball, Crane’s wrist-spin is trusted in the middle overs.

Chris Jordan has been providing fantasy points with both bat and ball of late. He complimented his figures of 1 for 29 with a brisk knock of 15 off 8. Overall, his three wickets are the most for Brave.

Match Preview

London has won both games, while Brave lost to Birmingham after starting the season with an emphatic win. Although both teams boast of power hitters, London has a more varied and experienced bowling lineup. The bowlers will have to punch above their weight. The pitch isn’t going to assist them much.
