Power Players

With 477 runs in 19 games, Mohammad Naim is the third-highest run-scorer in T20Is in 2021. In the ongoing T20 World Cup, his scores read 62, 0, 64. The only aspect, however, he needs to work on is his strike rate.

Adil Rashid picked up a stunning four-wicket haul against West Indies in the opening game – the best ball being the wrong ‘un against Andre Russell. As a matter of fact, he has been impressive this year: in 11 T20Is, he has scalped 18 wickets under an economy of 7 RPO.

Of all the batters, Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow are good players of spin, thanks to their consistency in the Indian T20 League. Given the nature of the wicket, their experience will come in handy.

Shakib Al Hasan has been incredible in the tournament thus far. His bowling figures read 2 for 17, 3 for 28, 4 for 9, and 2 for 17, and has two scores above 40 runs in 4 games.

Smart Picks

Tymal Mills picked up 2 for 17, bagging the all-important wickets of Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran. He smartly changed the pace in order to deceive the batters.

It was Mushfiqur Rahim’s 57* off 37 that propelled Bangladesh to a competitive score against Sri Lanka. He rotated the strike at the start and went full guns blazing at the death. These pitches are tailor-made for his style of batting.

Mustafizur Rahman’s off-cutters will be difficult to deal with in the UAE. He already comes across the wicket and for the right-handers to hit him from that angle is an uphill task.

Match Prediction

Bangladesh threw away a good start against Sri Lanka. They had them in trouble at 79 for 4, but captain Mahmudullah used part-time bowlers in the middle overs and squandered big time. Sri Lanka, thereafter, ended up losing only 1 wicket for 86 runs.

On the other hand, England lost 4 wickets in the pursuit of 56 runs. Their batters were ordinary against the spinners, and given Bangladesh’s strength is spin, England will have to be wary of their stroke play.
