Fantasy Cricket Team for England vs New Zealand 2nd Test

We have opted for a fantasy cricket team based on the recent performances, overall impact, and credit points.

Nottingham Pitch Report for England vs New Zealand 2nd Test

Only one out of the last four Tests has ended in a draw at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. In the previous two games at the venue, at least one batter has gone on to register a hundred. That said, the seamers too have been equally rewarded for disciplined bowling.

Probable England & New Zealand Teams

Probable XI for England: Zak Crawley, Harry Brook/Alex Lees, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Ben Stokes (c), Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes (wk), Matty Potts, Jack Leech/Matt Parkinson, James Anderson, Stuart Broad

Power Players for the Match

Joe Root has been single-handedly shouldering the responsibility for his team lately. He has smashed three centuries in his last four Tests. He also scored 109 in the second innings at Nottingham against India last year.

Following his six wicket-haul at Lord’s, James Anderson will continue to be a hot pick in fantasy leagues. At Nottingham, he has taken 64 wickets in 11 visits.

Kyle Jamieson has become a genuine strike bowler for New Zealand in Test cricket. Already, the talented seamer has 75 wickets to his credit in only 15 matches.England vs New Zealand, 2nd Test: Today’s Match Preview, Fantasy Cricket Tips

Thanks to his fighting half-century in the second innings of the first Test, Ben Stokes handsomely rewarded fantasy players. More of the same can be expected going forward from this champion all-rounder.

Smart Picks for the Match

By pouching 5 catches and adding 39 runs, Ben Foakes provided handy points as a wicketkeeper. Although he bats down the order, he is technically better than most contemporary English batters.

It was a stellar debut for Matty Potts at Lord’s as he bagged 7 wickets for the game. His ability to keep hitting the right length impressed one and all.

Devon Conway might have been dismissed for scores of 3 and 13 in the first Test, but we know how fruitful his debut series against England was last summer. Once he gets his eye in, he could be a tough nut to crack.

Although New Zealand lost the opening game, Daryll Mitchell’s gutsy century in the second innings earned him plenty of accolades. He is also used as a part-time bowler, especially when the lead pacers are in need of a break.

Like his bowling partner, Stuart Broad too keeps providing regular breakthroughs for England. He has taken 77 Test wickets against New Zealand.

If New Zealand are to bounce back, they will need runs from skipper Kane Williamson. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have great numbers in English conditions. He averages a paltry 23.16 in 12 innings.

Both Tim Southee and Trent Boult kept chipping away with wickets at regular intervals at Lord’s. Their role with the new-ball will once again be crucial for the tourists.

Match Preview

England will be brimming with confidence after their famous win at Lord’s last week. However, in their previous three visits to Trent Bridge, they have lost two matches and drawn one. On the other hand, New Zealand have only triumphed once in nine attempts at Nottingham. It’s now time for the World Test Champions to show their mettle.
