Power Players for the Match
Emma Lamb, in her only second ODI, registered her maiden century. She was dismissed for a duck on her debut. The knock of 102 runs came at a strike rate of 105 and was laced with 15 fours. Before this, her last three scores in competitive cricket read 42, 38, and 82. She is in the peak of her form.
Before Lamb launched the onslaught, Chloe Tryon had set the stage on fire with an innings of 88 off 73 including 10 fours and three sixes. It was her performance that pushed South Africa’s score from 52 for 3 to 218. In England, she averages 33 compared to her overall average of 24.
The talented Laura Wolvaardt has been in great touch in 2022 in the format. This year she has scored 771 runs at an average of 48 including a hundred and six fifties. She is the highest-ranked batter for South Africa in the ICC ODI Rankings.
However, it was the all-rounder Natalie Sciver who collected the most fantasy points (90.5) on My11Circle with her four-wicket haul and 55 off 36. Only a week ago she had blasted 169* in a Test against the same bowling attack.
Smart Picks for the Match
Before the three-wicket haul in the opening game, Katherine Brunt had gone wicketless in 7 of 10 ODIs. The three-for must boost her confidence.
Heather Knight averages a whopping 60 against South Africa. She has scored 420 runs including four fifties. She scored 20 off 21 before getting trapped lbw by Ayabonga Khaka.
Nadine de Klerk collected fantasy points with both bat and ball. She followed her knock of 38 with bowling figures of 2 for 44.
The No. 1 ODI bowler, Sophie Ecclestone, deserved more than the solitary wicket of Sune Luus. She smothered the South Africans with tight lines and lengths, giving away 30 runs from 10 overs.
Marizanne Kapp had a quiet time with the bat, managing 12 off 27. However, she made early inroads and knocked over the dangerous Tammy Beaumont in her second over.
Tammy Beaumont’s numbers against South Africa are outstanding: she has scored three hundreds and a fifty in 8 innings against them. It took a peach of a delivery to dismiss her.
Wicketkeepers from both sides could not contribute much, but Amy Jones’ recent form is slightly better than the experienced Trisha Chetty.

England Women vs South Africa Women Match Preview
After beating Ireland 3-0, South Africa looked out of sorts against the aggressive brand of cricket that England displayed. Their bowlers especially lost confidence once the home team started counterattacking. That being said, South Africa too boast of a potent batting lineup at their disposal. Scoring runs as a cohesive unit could put England on the back foot.
