India vs Namibia, T20 World Cup 2021

Time: November 8, 7:30 PM IST

Venue: Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai

Pitch Report

The team batting second has won 9 of 10 games in the Super 12 stage at Dubai.

The India batters, in the second innings, have not had any issues. However, with this game being a dead rubber, they might as well test their skills and bench strength under Virat Kohli’s last hurrah as the T20I captain. They may thus look to bat first.

Teams

Make sure you edit your fantasy teams after the toss. India are likely to make changes to their playing XI from the last game. To put things into perspective, India might rest a few senior players and give youngsters a chance at glory.

Probable XI for India: KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan/Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Varun Chakravarthy/Rahul Chahar

Gerhard Erasmus, the captain of Namibia, is likely to be rested due to a broken finger.

Probable XI for Namibia: Stephan Baard, Michael van Lingen, Craig Williams, Gerhard Erasmus (c), David Wiese, JJ Smit, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Zane Green (wk), Jan Frylinck/Karl Birkenstock, Ruben Trumpelmann, Ben Shikongo/Bernard Scholtz

India vs Namibia, T20 World Cup 2021 Fantasy Cricket Team

Players to Watch Out for

India had a purpose in the last two games, that is, to emerge victorious by a huge margin and scale up their net run-rate. This is the reason KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma went bonkers against Afghanistan and Scotland. Although the cause is lost now, they will play with no pressure on their minds. The duo will look to continue the aggressive brand of cricket.

David Wiese has played against India at the international level and with them in the Indian T20 League. In the absence of Erasmus, he will lead the resurging Namibia and has been their best player in the T20 World Cup: he has scored 201 runs at an average of 50 and taken 6 wickets with an economy of 7.3.

R Ashwin has rebuilt his T20 reputation and the leadership team is happy with his comeback. The bowling figures of 2 for 14 and 1 for 29 in the last games proved his hunger to excel across formats.

The fast-bowling pair of Jan Frylinck and Ruben Trumpelmann have taken 14 wickets between them – all this while maintaining an economy of under 8 RPO.

Ravindra Jadeja hit the stumps. That’s all he did against Namibia – something we witness in Tests. The batters played for the turn and were instead trapped in front. He received the Man of the Match award for taking 3 for 15. Given Namibia’s weakness against spin, the duo of Ashwin and Jadeja will play a key role.

Craig Williams showed grit against Pakistan, playing a vital innings of 40 runs. More importantly, although they lost the match, it was his knock that kept Pakistan on their toes.

Match Prediction

Namibia beat Ireland and Netherlands in the qualifiers and then got the better of Ireland in the Super 12 stage. If anything, they will go back home with renewed hope, which will help them prepare for the next T20 World Cup. If at all they manage to beat India or even put up a tough fight as they have been, it will further boost their confidence. India, on the other hand, will stay composed and only look for a win. The net run-rate game is bygone.
