India Vs West Indies

Time: February 9, 1.30pm IST

Venue: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

Pitch Report

The pitch is expected to remain slow once again. There was also plenty of turn on offer for the spinners in the opening ODI. Expect more of the same on Wednesday as well.

Teams

KL Rahul didn’t feature in the last game due to personal reasons, but he is available for selection going forward. If Rahul gets into the playing 11, he might replace either Ishan Kishan or Deepak Hooda.

Probable 11 for India: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan/KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna

The West Indian batters failed to make any significant contribution in the previous game. Therefore, the visitors are likely to make some changes in that department.

Probable 11 for West Indies: Shai Hope (wk), Brandon King, Nkrumah Bonner/Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard (c), Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Fabien Allen, Akeal Hosein, Kemar Roach

Fantasy Tips

Fantasy Cricket Team for Today’s India vs West Indies Match

Power Players

Despite being out of the game for a while, Rohit Sharma was impressive with the willow in the first ODI. Rohit has played 34 games against the West Indies and has piled on 1576 runs at an average of 63, scoring 12 fifties and three hundreds.

Yuzvendra Chahal was the chief destroyer of the West Indies lineup in the opening game, picking up four wickets. Considering that the pitch in Ahmedabad is expected to offer turn, expect the leggie to continue posing problems for the tourists. Till now, Chahal has bagged 12 wickets in six ODIs against the West Indies.

Although Virat Kohli might be going through a century drought for 19 consecutive games, he has still managed to register 10 fifties in the process with a highest score of 89. As far as Ahmedabad is concerned, Kohli has scores of 57, 24, 20, 49 and 8 at the venue.

Smart Picks

Shai Hope might have scored only 8 runs in the opening game, but he averages more than 50 against Indian in the 50-over format. Hope has also scored two unbeaten hundreds and four fifties. Overall, he averages 51.47.

Jason Holder once again showed his credentials with the willow in the first ODI by scoring 57. In fact, he has been getting bulk of the runs for the Windies lower down the order. Since the 2015 World Cup, Holder has batted inside the 25-over mark on 19 occasions and has scored 564 runs at 35, smashing six fifties.

Washington Sundar was brilliant with the ball, picking up three wickets in the opening game. Akeal Hosein too enjoyed bowling on the responsive pitch at Ahmedabad.

Match Prediction

Although there isn’t a big difference in the head-to-head contests, India still maintain a narrow lead over the West Indies. However, it is important to note that in the last five ODIs, India have beaten the West Indies four times. Moreover, with the pitch offering turn, India will fancy their chances of sealing the series.
