Players to watch out for
Shabnim Ismail and Sune Luus destroyed the Ireland lineup by picking three wickets each in the opening ODI. While Ismail dented the top order, Luus successfully cleaned up the middle order.
Ayabonga Khaka will also be a threat for Ireland with the new ball. In 5 ODIs against Ireland, she has taken 8 wickets.
Lara Goodall has been in decent form with the willow on this tour with scores of 32*, 48, and 50.
Laura Wolvaardt wasn’t amongst the runs in the T20s, but she has collected 404 runs, including the highest score of 149 in 7 ODIs against Ireland.
Gaby Lewis was in tremendous touch in the T20s and will continue to remain the biggest hope for the hosts in the remaining two ODIs as well.
Although Arlene Kelly and Jane Maguire didn’t pick wickets in the opening ODI, they gave bonus fantasy bonus by keeping things tight with the ball. It’s not to be forgotten that the duo was the leading wicket-takers for Ireland in the T20s.
Match Preview
Ireland haven’t won a single game after beating South Africa in the opening T20I. A defeat in the second ODI would mean yet another series loss for the hosts. Ireland will need to punch above their weight to stun the mighty visitors.
