Head-to-head this season

Both teams won a game each in this season.

In the first game, rain interrupted Warriors were set a revised target. They won by 8 wickets.

Considering the rain threat, Dolphins elected to bat first. Their openers collected only 9 runs between them, but Vilas and Miller came to the team’s rescue. Vilas went for 34, while Miller scored double his runs. There was a minor collapse, losing Vilas and Zondo for 15 runs. And it was the same story. Phehlukwayo, this time, came to their rescue and scored 68 off 72. Eventually, there were bundled out for 244. Magala was the pick of the bowlers, taking 5 for 59. In reply, as mentioned earlier, rain made Warriors’ chase easy. Cloete scored 52, while captain Smuts remained unbeaten on 42 to take their team to victory.

Dolphins avenged the loss in the second game. So choose your fantasy cricket team wisely.

Warriors this time chose to bat first. Smuts scored a resolute 76 and Nyaku added finished touches with his 34 in death overs to reach 223 for 9. Van Jaarsveld and Erwee added 147 for the first wicket. Walters removed van Jaarsveld for 83, but none of the bowlers could dismiss Erwee. He remained unbeaten on 105 off 103. Dolphins won by 9 wickets, with 14.1 overs remaining.

Form guide

Erwee is the fifth-highest scorer, with 364 runs in only 7 matches. He has smashed 2 centuries and a fifty. Van Jaarsveld follows him with 353 run at a stunning average of 86.7. He has one century and two fifties to his name.

If fit, Phehlukwayo will play. Before being a part of the limited-overs series between South Africa and Sri Lanka, he had blasted 223 runs and taken 5 wickets in 4 matches. He will be the player to watch out for.

Captain Smuts has led from the front in true sense of the idiom. His 342 runs are the most by a Warriors batter. Breetzke and Cloete follow him with 328 and 321 runs respectively.

With 10 wickets in 6 matches, Cele is the highest wicket-taker for Dolphins. For Warriors, Sipamla and Magala have taken 13 wickets each.
