Throwback pictures bring back fond memories of a special moment in time. So, in accordance with #ThrowbackThursday Virat Kohli posted a picture from the 2016 T20 World Cup match against Australia. It was a momentous match for both the players. Along with the picture, he wrote, “A game I can never forget. Special night. This man, made me run like in a fitness test @msdhoni.” This tweet sent the cricket fans into a tizzy.

This was an epic match. India was chasing 161 but lost several wickets earlier on in the match. They were 49/3 in 7.4 overs. Then came the partnership of Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh. They managed to come to a 45-run stand for the fourth wicket. That is when Yuvraj Singh was caught by Shane Watson off James Faulkner at the 14th over, bringing the score to 94/4. Then came along MS Dhoni, who is known as one of the fastest runners between wickets. Kohli and Dhoni powered through and had a match-winning partnership of 67 runs. Dhoni pushed Kohli over his limits to score between wickets. That is how they converted single runs to double runs. It was an unforgettable match.

However, going back further to 2014, MS Dhoni shocked Indian cricket fans by retiring from Test matches. Presently, rumours are floating in the cricketing space that this former captain is throwing in the towel for good. Virat Kohli’s tweet further fueled these speculations and broke the hearts of many fans.

Another point of speculation that was fanning this rumour was the fact that Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not part of the West Indies series. Also, he will not be available for the home series against South Africa the first T20I in Dharamsala on September 15.

MS Dhoni’s captaincy saw a lot of successes. He had 179 victories from 332 matches overall. In the 60 Tests matches that India participated in, he drove the team to win 27 matches. Plus, this Indian cricket captain made history by winning all three ICC trophies. They included World T20 in 2007, World Cup victory in 2011, and in 2013, he took home the ICC Champions Trophy.

In January 2017 he stepped down as the captain of limited overs and Virat Kohli took over the captaincy. Fast track to 2019, will this be the last chapter for MS Dhoni?
