Sixers vs Perth Match Prediction

Deadline: December 26, 2019 at 1:40 PM IST

Venue: Perth Stadium, Perth

Pitch Report

The previous match at the Perth Stadium was a high-scoring contest, producing as many as 381 runs in 40 overs. Only 3 of 12 wickets that fell belonged to the spinners. It was through and through a paradise for the batsmen. Expect another thrilling game on Boxing Day.

Probable XIs

Scorchers: Josh Inglis (wk), Liam Livingstone, Ashton Turner, Mitchell Marsh (c), Cameron Bancroft, Ashton Agar, Cameron Green, Chris Jordan, Jhye Richardson, Joel Paris, Fawad Ahmed

Sixers: Daniel Hughes, Josh Philippe (wk), James Vince, Moises Henriques (c), Jordan Silk, Tom Curran, Hayden Kerr, Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Ben Manent, Lloyd Pope

Match Prediction

The Sixers devoured the Scorchers when they locked horns last week at the Sydney Cricket Ground. A collective bowling effort throttled the Scorchers for 131 all-out. Josh Philippe remained unbeaten on 81* off 44 and wrapped up the chase with as many as 5 overs to spare.

In all, both teams have won only 1 of 3 matches thus far and are stuttering at the bottom along with the winless Renegades.

Players To Watch Out For

The Scorchers’ captain is, by true sense of the idiom, leading from the front. Mitchell Marsh has smashed 102 runs at 51 including a half-century at the very venue.

Liam Livingstone and Josh Inglis fired on all cylinders against the Strikers, smashing 124 runs in a mere 8.4 overs for the first wicket. Inglis started the onslaught, and the aggression rubbed off on Livingstone who blasted 69 off 26 including 7 sixes.

Cameron Bancroft acts as a floater. If the Scorchers lose an early wicket, he comes at No. 3 and steadies the ship. In addition he has a knack for finding gaps. His half-century against the Renegades was full of quality strokes.

The Scorchers’ bowling, however, has lacked teeth. Chris Jordan has had his moments, but he too could not provide impetus when the opposition went after him. Same has been the case with the leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed. One over he seems unplayable and in the next he leaks runs.

Watch out for Josh Philippe who has hit 120 runs with a strike rate of 134.8. The onus of laying a solid foundation is on him. James Vince and captain Moises Henriques then take over and build on the start.

The Sixers’ bowling has been spectacular thus far. While the off-spinner Benjamin Manenti has scalped 6 wickets, the pace duo of Sean Abbott and Tom Curran has sniped up 11 wickets between them.
