Smart Picks

Besides keeping things tight on the economy front (5.6 RPO), Akshay Puri has taken 3 wickets. Singapore will continue to rely on him for vital breakthroughs in the middle overs.

Vinoth Baskaran made a huge difference in fantasy leagues after finishing with figures of 4-0-23-2 against the UAE. In the process, he got the all-important wicket of the in-form batter Vriitya Aravind. He had also got the solitary wicket of Yasim Murtaza when he took the field against Hong Kong.

After his two-wicket haul against Hong Kong, skipper Amjad Mahboob couldn’t make any impact with the ball against the UAE. However, if Singapore are to leave the tournament on a high, they will need their skipper to deliver with the new ball against Kuwait.

Kuwait’s victory over the UAE by a mere run was set up by the opening pair of Meet Bhavsar (27 off 21) and Ravija Sandaruwan (34 off 25). The duo stitched a 51-run partnership and laid a strong foundation for their side. Unfortunately, they couldn’t replicate their heroics against Hong Kong. They could only accumulate 15 runs between them.

Edson Silva showed his class against Hong Kong by smashing a 30-ball 56 (1 four and 6 sixes). Although he was striking at 187, his overall strike rate in T20Is is 209. If he can finish off on a high against Singapore, fantasy players are likely to be showered with a bunch of bonus points.

Form Concern

Adnan Idrees has been experiencing a lean run with the bat lately. His recent scores in the format read 12, 1, 0, 0, and 4. However, he did pick his first wicket of the tournament in the last game against Hong Kong.

Likewise, Singapore’s Surendran Chandramohan too has been all at sea in August. He has only managed 42 runs in his last five competitive games, including international and List A cricket.

Power Players

Janak Prakash has been a surprise package in fantasy leagues. Besides adding 45 with the bat, he happens to be the leading wicket-taker (5) for the tournament, including the best figures of 3 for 35.

Although Singapore have lost both matches, opener Aritra Dutta has managed to get quick starts on both occasions. He followed his 16-ball 29 against Hong Kong with a 29-ball 42 against the UAE.

Fantasy Tip of The Day

The Singapore bowlers and all-rounders have been amongst the wickets regularly. Drafting them in your fantasy teams is likely to be beneficial.
