Smart Picks

After a poor showing against Afghanistan and South Africa back home, Paul Stirling in his very first game of the season, smashed a match-winning 74 off 42 balls (10 fours and 2 sixes), against the beleaguered Welsh. While he bowled only 5 balls, he is capable of generating fantasy points in that department as well.

Before Stirling went bonkers, it was George Garton who set up the game for his side with an impressive spell of 15-12-7-3. He also has a reputation for packing a punch with the bat.

Since his return from Ireland, Rashid Khan has picked 4 wickets in 2 games, including the best figures of 3 for 25. He destroyed London’s middle order by dismissing the dangerous Dan Lawrence and Kieron Pollard.

While James Vince’s services weren’t required in the previous match, he hasn’t been consistently delivering with the bat. Barring his knock of 71* against the Welsh earlier in the tournament, he has added only 52 runs in 4 innings.

Samit Patel has helped fantasy players by taking 8 wickets in 6 games. With the bat, he got only one opportunity, during which he managed 13 runs.

In his last 3 games, Luke Wood has registered figures of 3 for 17, 1 for 30, and 2 for 23, making fantasy players happy time and again.

Colin Munro too has kept fantasy players interested with consecutive unbeaten knocks of 23 and 67. He has also held onto 5 catches, thereby adding handy fantasy points.

Form Concern

Since the start of the English T20 League, Tim David has been struggling to make an impact. His scores in the tournament read 11, 3, 22, 10, and 10*. Regardless of his drop in form, he remains the best finisher on paper for Southern.

Quinton de Kock hasn’t been at his best in this league either. Although he got a run-a-ball 37 in the last match against Welsh, he has managed only 83 runs in 5 innings. With the gloves too, he has inflicted only 3 dismissals.

Power Players

Dawid Malan and Alex Hales have been largely responsible for Trent’s success in this edition. While Malan is the leading run-getter (241), including the highest score of 98*, Hales is fifth on the list (205), with the highest score of 59. Together, they have the ability to destroy attacks and shower fantasy points galore.

Fantasy Tip Of The Day

While Trent are sitting pretty on top of the points table, it is important to recognize that Southern also boasts of quality players. Creating a balanced fantasy team should be the objective.
