Pitch Report for Sri Lanka vs Australia Match at R.Premadasa Stadium

Although batting has been easy at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, dominating the spinners has been a tough task. Batters have been careful especially in the middle overs.

Power Players for Sri Lanka vs Australia 4th ODI

Pathum Nissanka likes feeding on the Australians. In T20Is, he averages an impressive 29, with the highest score of 73. In ODIs, he has scores of 56, 14, and 137. The incredible hundred on Sunday was evidence of the talent and temperament he is equipped with.

Be it at the top or in the middle order, Travis Head has been unstoppable in the format. Here’s how his last five ODI scores look like: 101, 89, 0, 23, and 70*.

Kusal Mendis has found his lost mojo, finally doing justice to all the superior traits he has as a batter. With 209 runs in three games, he is the highest run-scorer of the series. The idea is simple: play according to the merit of the ball and put a price on his wicket. Australia have thus far struggled to dismantle his defence.

Glenn Maxwell has collected the most fantasy points (146.5) on My11Circle in the series. He has been splendid with both bat and ball: 143 runs and 3 wickets. Of late, whatever he has touched has turned into gold.

Smart Picks for Sri Lanka vs Australia 4th ODI

Aaron Finch has been going easy on the tour. He scored 114 runs in T20Is and has got effective starts in two of three ODIs. More importantly, it is the change in approach that has improved his numbers. He takes his time in the powerplay and then wakes up the aggressive beast inside him once he finds his feet.

The Sri Lanka spin trio of Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Jeffrey Vandersay have been putting the visitors on the back foot. They have taken 12 wickets between them.

Pat Cummins took a four-wicket haul in the second ODI – of which one came in the powerplay, one in the middle overs, and two at the death. He continues to be Australia’s top strike bowler.

In his last 10 competitive games, Alex Carey has scored four fifties and a 49 (in the previous ODI). He batted ahead of Head and Maxwell.

Had it not been for Maxwell’s breathtaking performance in the opening fixture, Sri Lanka would have already sealed the series 3-0. The hosts have been clinical in all the departments, and more importantly, played as a cohesive unit. Not that Australia have done anything wrong, but Sri Lanka have been composed under pressure and therefore winning the crucial moments.
