Match prediction
The Patriots chased down Jamaican Tallawahs’ massive target of 192 runs with a ball to spare in the Eliminator of the 2018 edition. In the league stage, both had won a game each.
In the ongoing edition, however, both teams faced defeats against the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders. Worse, the Patriots faced the same fate against Guyana Amazon Warriors as well.
If anything, the current form makes match prediction difficult, but the head-to-head record puts the Patriots ahead in the race.
Players to watch out for
Andre Russell continued his red-hot form, smashing 44 off 24 including 4 fours and as many sixes. Before he hit those soaring sixes, he had knocked over Denesh Ramdin’s defence.
Sheldon Cottrell started off the season with a stunning three-wicket haul, giving away a mere 13 runs. He, however, could not emulate a similar performance against the Warriors, leaking 35 runs for a wicket.
Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss, is yet to put his best foot forward. The scorers will be exhausted the day he unleashes the beast in him. He scored 28 off 20 in Tallawahs’ opening match.
Devon Thomas is the only player to have scored a half-century from both teams. It was his 62-run knock that kept the Patriots’ innings together.
