The pitch at the Warner Park produced an even battle between the bat and ball. Above all, it was alike for both pacers and spinners. The batters will have to be mindful of their shot selection.

Power Players for West Indies vs India Match

India struggling against a left-arm pacer has been the talk of the town for a while now. They could not negotiate the  awkward bounce of Obed McCoy who registered his best bowling figures (6 for 17) in professional cricket. He exploited his height and used the crease and his variations to good effect. He strikes at 12.4 in the format.

Although it was a rare first-ball duck for Rohit Sharma, getting out to a left-arm bowler was not a new event. He will rather look to attack the other bowlers as he did in the opening game and maintain his fantastic average of 38 against the West Indies.

The Showmen

Hardik Pandya collected the most fantasy points for India with the help of 31 runs and a wicket. He took the crease when India were in trouble and bowled when India had to maintain pressure. He has been one of the most popular fantasy picks of late.

West Indies consumed Jason Holder’s full quota in the middle and death overs. The ploy worked as he managed 2 for 23 in 3.4 overs. He has enough experience in containing the runs. With the bat, he can send a few soaring into the stands.

For a lower middle-order batter, an average of 23 in the format is commendable. Ravindra Jadeja can do it all, be it rebuilding his team’s innings or going all guns blazing at the death. In addition to his 27 runs, he took the important wicket of Shimron Hetmyer at a crucial juncture.

Smart Picks for West Indies vs India Match

Since he topped the batting chart in the Windies T20 League in 2019, Brandon King has not been able to fully live up to the expectations. Last night, however, he displayed maturity. The result was a match-winning, composed fifty. More importantly, his scores since the ODIs read 54, 0, 42, and 68.

R Ashwin, by far, has been the best spinner in the series. He has picked three wickets in two games, maintaining an economy of 6.7 RPO.

Nicholas Pooran is unlikely to change his approach. In both games, he upped the ante with his aggressive stroke play but could not capitalise on the start, falling prey to Ashwin both times. He will have to hold his nerves as he did in the ODI series.

Arshdeep Singh does everything his captain asks him to. He bowls tight lengths in the powerplay and smothers the batters with his variations at the death. Despite bowling in tough situations, he has given away a mere 6.2 RPO. He has racked up three wickets, of which two have come at the death.

Akeal Hosein throttled the Indian batters in both games, conceding less than a run a ball and managing a wicket each. He does not provide enough room for the batters to open their arms.

West Indies vs India, 3rd T20I Match Preview

India were in the driver’s seat – despite setting up a low target – until the penultimate over. The bowlers performed well as a cohesive unit, while the middle and lower-middle order did well enough to scale up the scoring rate. West Indies, on the other hand, heavily relied on the performances of McCoy and King. Although they managed to level the series, they will have to keep raising their bar to outsmart India.
