Fantasy Power Picks

New Zealand need to find smarter ways to dismiss Shamarh Brooks on the tour. In the T20I series, his scores read 42, 7, and 56*, and he complimented the annihilation with another match-winning knock of 79 in the first ODI.

Martin Guptill has redefined his approach. He has been playing the ball according to its merit rather than taking the attack to the opposition. In 2022, he has scored two hundreds and a fifty in six ODIs.

Two of Alzarri Joseph’s three wickets included the talismanic Kane Williamson and the in-form Daryl Mitchell. In his last 10 ODIs, he has taken 17 wickets. His 21 wickets in seven ODIs are the most at the venue.

Kane Williamson’s approach was clear: bat long and hold the innings together – something the fantasy players dig for. 34 runs may not look significant, but the innings came when the ball was not coming onto the bat very well. Against the West Indies, he averages 41.

Smart Fantasy Picks

The pace duo of Trent Boult and Tim Southee did what they do best, taking two wickets each. While Boult averages 15 against the West Indies, Southee averages 16. Talk about domination!

Nicholas Pooran, the smasher turned into a sheet anchor, took 47 balls to score 28. The captain did what was needed of him. His four scores before this innings read 73, 25, 74, and 42.

Shai Hope, on the other hand, pounced on every loose delivery offered to him. He hit four fours and a six in his 26-run knock. He anyway is a natural boundary-hitter. He, however, has eight scores below 30 runs and two hundreds in his last 10 ODIs.

Jason Holder has taken six two-wicket hauls in 10 ODIs against New Zealand. Bowling in the powerplay and death often keeps him amongst wickets.

Three of New Zealand’s top four belonged to Akeal Hosein. It was a masterstroke from the West Indies to open the bowling with a slow left-arm orthodox on a wicket that was slowish in nature.

Fantasy Tip of The Day

Take batters who like to occupy the crease for longer periods. The pitch is not going to make their lives easier. In addition, bowlers who bowl tidy lines are more likely to be profitable.
